Academic Programs and Teaching at the Center
Working with our partners, the Center provides opportunites for students to gain practical and theoretical knowledge of bioethics. Graduate degrees, training, fellowship programs, lectures, and other activites help students and scholars better understand ethical issues in medicine, health law, medical research, and the medical humanities.
MA Philosophy - Concentration in Bioethics
Integrating theory and practice, and a practicum in clinical ethics, this MA is the only one of its kind in Indiana. The program attracts both traditional graduate students and health professionals seeking to develop credentials for their careers and to build a knowledge base.
MA Philosophy - International Research Ethics
This new graduate program is a major teaching and curriculum development program involving the Indiana University Center for Bioethics and Moi University in Eldoret, Kenya.
MA/JD Joint Degree - Bioethics and Law
A combined degree in Law and Philosophy (Bioethics), this program prepares future lawyers with an interest in the ethical and legal issues of healthcare and health policy.
LLM - Health Law, Policy & Bioethics
Courses are offered in the areas of: biotechnology, antitrust law in the healthcare industry, bioethics, medical malpractice, and more.
MA/MD Joint Degree - Bioethics and Medicine
This combined degree in Medicine and Philosophy (Bioethics) aims to serve future medical professionals desiring to learn more about the ethical practice medicine and medical research.
Medical Humanities Program
This program explores the concepts of health and illness from an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspective.
IUSM Competencies
Nine competencies, including Moral Reasoning and Ethical Judgement, required of IU School of Medicine graduates.
