Indiana Eugenics Digital Library

The Indiana Eugenics Digital Library (IEDL) is a collection of digitized public resources specifically selected to illustrate the history and legacy of the Indiana Eugenics movement. These materials were provided by the Indiana State Library, Indiana State Archives, and the Indiana University School of Medicine with the objective of broadening public access to these materials for academic research and historical reference. The resources included in this collection are historical documents, photographs, and manuscripts available for public use. Some materials included are currently under U.S. copyright law. Permission to include these items in IEDL has been granted by the copyright owners. Other resources important in documenting the Eugenics movement in Indiana have not been digitized due to copyright compliance but are included in citation format.

How to Navigate the Timeline
The timeline includes digital resources from 1888 to 2002. To navigate the timeline use your mouse pointer to pan forward and backward through time. You can also use your left and right arrow keys. When you click on a title, a pop-up box reveals the citation and, in most cases, a direct link to the digital resource (identified by an underlined title in bold). If a direct link is not available, the full citation has been provided.
